Eight. Words.I. Learned. From.Utah.And.Provo.

They say the average student learns 8 new words every day.

And it's probably true. For instance, I had an astronomy midterm today-and I learned that circumpolar stars are stars that always stay above the horizon. The polaris is another word for the north star. A sidereal month only lasts 27.3 days.

But, really.

Most of the words you've learned have been picked up from the people around you--your friends, your neighbors, your family.

And Utah. Has some pretty interesting words.

1. Preemie
A Preemie is a young man who hasn't served his mission yet. Supposedly, a preemie is a bit immature. Preemies are to be avoided at all costs.

An RM, on the other hand, is a man who has recently/not so recently returned from serving his mission. RMs are also to be avoided at all costs.

2. Jimmered
Yeah, we all know. Jimmer Fredette is talented at shooting balls through hoops. No, really.....He's got so much swagger that we made a verb out of his last name. You just got jimmered, fool!(You just got beaten very badly because I am awesome.)

3. Tool
Boys who like to take advantage of girls are tools. Also, boys who are put girls before friends are tools. A tool can mean many things. But basically--it's something bad. You don't want to be one.

4. Virgin Lips
Never been kissed.

5. Virgin Hair
This has to do with the process of dying one's hair. Girls who have never colored their hair are VH. Some girls in Provo are VH, but many of them are not.

I'm not.

6. DTR
DTR means to define the relationship. It's a word used in many sticky situations, particularly over dating issues. DTR-ing can be very awkward and uncomfortable. It can also end nicely, if you are lucky.

7. JKB, JFSB, HFAC, etc.
These are buildings in Provo. We're much too lazy to say the full names.

8. Nicmo
I don't really want to define this word.
